Navigator LC/MS compact benchtop, single
quadropole is a powerful instrument designed for the liquid
chromatographic detection using Atmospheric Pressure Chemical
Ionization (APCI) or Electrospray Ionization (ESI). The ions formed
can be analyzed in positive or negative ion modes. The compounds
suitable for analysis by electrospray are polar and of molecular
weight less than 100000 amu. The higher molecular weight compounds
such as proteins can produce multiply charged ions. These ions would
be observed at lower masses because the mass to charge (m/z) ratio
diminishes with increasing charge. The typical applications are:
peptides, proteins, oligonucleotides, sugars, drugs, steroids, and pesticides. In this instrument we
are limited to compounds less than 1000 amu. Compounds that typically
get analyzed by APCI are usually less polar than
the compounds analyzed in ESI and of molecular
steroids weight less than 1000 amu. These
compounds are usually pesticides, drugs, azo dyes, and
steroids. Ref
